Finite Element Analysis of Hardened Steel Cutting
Hard machining, as attractive replacement for many rough and finish grinding operation, generates high cutting forces and temperature that enhance tool wear when act together. Therefore, the tool geometry and machining parameters have to be carefully optimized for a given material. Because of high cost and time consuming experimental work up-to-date advanced software for modeling and simulation...
متن کاملSurface Roughness, Machining Force and FlankWear in Turning of Hardened AISI 4340 Steel with Coated Carbide Insert: Cutting Parameters Effects
The current experimental study is to investigate the effects of process parameters (cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut) on performance characteristics (surface roughness, machining force and flank wear) in hard turning of AISI 4340 steel with multilayer CVD (TiN/TiCN/Al2O3) coated carbide insert. Combined effects of cutting parameter (v, f, d) on performance outputs (Ra, Fm and VB) ar...

Cutting Mechanism of Sulfurized Free-Machining Steel
In order to improve efficiency of cutting process in production industry, development of new steel which has good machinablity is desired. The work material which has good surface roughness, easy breakable chip and small tool wear as the good machinablity is expected. And the free-machining steel was developed owning to adding elements which could make the machinablity better. Of all others, le...
متن کاملOn machining of hardened AISI D2 steel with PCBN tools
This paper describes an experimental investigation on machining of a difficult-to-cut material, AISI D2 steel of hardness 62 HRC with PCBN tools. It was found that the most feasible feeds and speeds fall in the ranges 0.08–0.20 mm/rev and 70–120 m/min, respectively and that most of the tested PCBN tools reached the end of life mainly due to flank wear. The highest acceptable values of tool life...
